The third weekend in May ( after the long wekend) Jay and I headed up to the Adirondacks. We had never been before but had heard many things from a co-worker of Jay's. So after picking his brain for many ideas we thought we had the perfect trip planned. That is until we got there and spoke with a park ranger, who promptly explained that the spring run-off had flooded out most of the path that would take us across the mountain. This meant a detour through two rocky passes and longer days than we had expected. So our itenerary was not so good after all, our food detail was amazing however. We never even saw a bear (though secretly we were both hoping we might.) But the thrill and exhaustion at the end of our days made it all worth while. The weather cooperated with us until Sunday when we hit "Indian Pass," the second crazy pass with lots of rocks. As the rain fell the rocks got more slippery and the snow became increasingly frequent and deep, as we discovered when Jay fell through. Who would've thought!!
